Knobs extracting visual cues from existing handles, aimed at increasing visual interest while staying within the parameters of machine production.
As an engineer-led company,
Accurate has long prioritised
function over aesthetics. From my
arrival in the company, I played
a key role in building a team of
designers, and winning aesthetic
criteria an equal place in product
development.
Continuity was maintained by ensuring new products reflected the company’s visual identity by referencing existing designs.
Curves from earlier handles became central design elements of new knobs.
Going directly into digital modeling allowed me to design within the parameters of Accurate’s factory. The limitations of simple extrusions mirror the capabilities of CNC machining.
